LANSING (WKZO) — Farmers statewide are urging people to vote in favor of the May ballot proposal to increase the sales tax by one-percent as part of a deal to fund road repairs.
The Michigan Farm Bureau says its members are working to convince neighbors and communities to vote “yes.” Farmer Bryan Heffron says even where he lives and farms in Kent County, the roads range from “good to terrible,” adding there are roads that he cannot take with his equipment.
Heffron notes that while Kent County is one of the state’s more well-off counties, the challenge to keep the roads in good shape is constant.
