WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO) — There was a flurry of activity in the final days to file a claim with the General Motors victim compensation fund.
In the two days before Saturday’s deadline, about 830 new applications came in bringing the total to an estimated 41-hundred 80 claims filed alleging that the automaker’s faulty ignition problem caused injury or death. Initially GM had said that 13-deaths were caused by the problem.
As of a week ago, 50 death claims and 75 injury claims had been approved. Approximately 400 claims have been ruled ineligible so far.
