KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Like Texas and California, Michigan is a border state. In fact Detroit is the largest border town in North America, with some of the busiest international crossings. It’s a straight shot down I-94 to Windsor, and some of their culture could be coming to Kalamazoo this fall.
Local chef Channon Mondoux is looking for support for the Canadiana Fest, which would be held at the Arcadia Festival Site and feature many cultural attractions from the Great White North.
They also plan Gordon Lightfoot and Rush tribute bands and other Canadian performers.
She says she got the idea during the pandemic when she got homesick for her hometown in Canada.
She recently asked Kalamazoo City Commissioners to think about setting up a sister-city relationship with Windsor, and for help with funding the event, now planned for October 7th.
