LANSING, MI – Hundreds of people — including a basketball legend — turned out yesterday to remember the legacy of longtime Lansing Everett basketball coach George Fox. Fox passed away last week at the age of 88.
Fox will be forever remembered as the high school basketball coach of NBA icon Earvin Magic Johnson, who flew in to Lansing yesterday to attend the memorial. Johnson credited Fox with making him a better basketball player and a better person.
Fox was the first man to play on a state championship team and later coach a team to a state title, taking Lansing Everett to the championship in 1977.
