KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Kalamazoo County officials are asking for patience as they continue to clear streets following Sunday’s big storm that dumped as much as 20 inches on parts of Kalamazoo County.
Drifting and blowing made the challenge steeper, especially in rural areas, where roads drifted over and became impassible.
Kalamazoo County Vice Chair Jeff Heppler, who is also Chief of Police in Augusta, thanked the public at Tuesday night’s board meeting for cooperating and staying off the roads immediately after the storm and doing what they can since to dig, scrape, and burrow their way out of the snow, and to help their neighbors get out as well.
County Road Crews finally got to dead ends and cul de sacs late yesterday afternoon.
Compounding the problem was the arrival of more snow and freezing drizzle overnight.
