DEARBORN (WKZO) — Gas Prices have jumped again in west Michigan after a four day rally of crude oil on global markets.
Pump prices spiked to 2.35 a gallon at some stations and others are expected to follow, if they have not already.
Greg Laskowski at Gas Buddy.com says refinery maintenance and other seasonal factors are to blame.
He says its that time of the year when gas prices usually jump 30 to 60 cents because refiners and distributors are preparing to switch to the production of summer blends.
This year it seems however that West Michigan is on the leading edge of the national trend.
The national average has only bumped up to $2.07 a gallon from $2.04 a gallon last week.
The number that puts it all in perspective is the fact that even after the spike, we are still paying a dollar twenty less than we were at this time last year.
