PORTAGE (WKZO) — A purse snatcher who victimized an 84-year-old Portage woman is in custody and is expected to be charged Monday with unarmed robbery.
The woman was in the parking lot near Barnes and Nobles when the young man grabbed her purse and ran north.
A K-9 tracking dog was able to find the woman’s purse, but the cash was gone and so was the suspect.
The victim wasn’t injured and gave investigators a good description of the thief.
Three Hours later and six blocks away, a Public Safety Officer spotted a man matching the description.
‘The 22-year-old from Holland confessed to the crime when contronted and was arrested. He was booked in the Kalamazoo County Jail pending arraignment.
