LANSING (WKZO) — The Lottery Jackpot is up to $485-million but Michigan Lottery spokesperson Jeff Holyfield says the way ticket sales are going, the Powerball Jackpot could be worth over half a billion dollars by the time the draw the numbers Wednesday night.
He says sales have been brisk, and each one of those ticket buyers have their own plans and dreams if they win.
How much money is up for grabs? If you received the prize in $10 bills it would be a stack taller than 13 empire state buildings.
That’s more money than the annual budget of Cleveland, and some entire nations.
But your chances of winning are infinitesimal. Your chances of being eaten by a shark, or being crushed by an asteroid are far greater, and considerably less fun.
It’s the fifth largest jackpot in U.S. History and Holyfield says it would be the largest ever won by someone in Michigan. if that is what happens.
He says as an added incentive…they also have smaller prizes that can be won by getting anything from every number but the powerball to just a couple of matches.
Since the Michigan lottery started cranking out tickets in 1972, the state’s lottery bureau has contributed about 19-billion to the state’s schools.
