KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs for the U.S. Government will be at Western Michigan University Thursday, April 13 to acknowledge WMU’s program to train Tribal Administrators.
The Department of Interior’s Bryan Newland will be the guest on WMU’s We Talk series.
According to the Director of the WMU School of Public Administration, the training consists of three graduate level classes, and will offer a certificate.
“Western Michigan University sets itself apart. There is no program like this in this half of the country. Nothing even close,” said Mingus who noted that it’s an outgrowth of their ongoing work to provide learning opportunities for the three regional tribes.
“They both help tribal members with general education, but also help all of the various types of tribal employees with continuing educational growth,” continued Mingus.
The public is welcome to hear Newland’s presentation as a part of Western’s We Talk series at the Fetzer Center on WMU’s Campus from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 13.
