KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — This is one time when looking out your window isn’t going to tell you the whole story about the weather, because you cannot see just how truly cold it is.
John Feerick at Accuweather says some areas got as low as 13-below for some parts of southern Michigan overnight, which incidentally set new records in many towns.
Any experienced Michigander knows the secret to survival in weather like this, dressing in layers, as many as layers as you can, without becoming immobile, but still covering every bit of skin you can.
Until this weekend, west Michigan Wineries had only seen limited damage to some of their more sensitive grapes after an episode of sub zero temperatures last week.
Matt Moersch at Round Barn Wines will no doubt be back out again this week checking after this weekend’s sub zero temperatures. The blanket of snow helps insulate the ground as well.
