KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public Schools Board of Education is moving into the next phase of its search for its next superintendent.
Board members plan to review the applications of those vying for the position just over a week from now on Wednesday, April 19. And they plan to do this with the assistance of representatives with their selected search firm of Ray & Associates.
Then from April 24 to April 27, board members will conduct virtual interviews with semi finalist candidates.
Those making the cut into the rank of finalist will be interviewed in person in Kalamazoo both May 8 and May 9, when the board is anticipated to make a final decision.
KPS launched its search for a new superintendent in February following the abrupt departure of former KPS Superintendent Dr. Rita Raichoudhuri on December 12, 2022. Cindy Green, who had been retired since June 2021 after 36 years with the district took on the role of interim superintendent in December as well.
The board selected the educational leadership search firm of Ray & Associates to help conduct the search on February 20.
The district sought staff, student, and community input about the qualifications sought in a new superintendent through a survey and a series of public meetings in March.
The board hopes to have a new superintendent in place by July.
