LANSING (WKZO)– It’s hard to imagine worse weather than we had yesterday afternoon but we will have it this morning as the Lake Effect continues to pound the lake shore counties with wind and snow.
A winter storm advisory is still in effect for Kalamazoo and St.Joseph Counties, but its been upgraded to a warning in Van Buren, Berrien and Cass Counties.
State Police spokesman Ron Liex is with the state’s Homeland Security Division. He says people should stay home if they can, only go out if they have to.
If they do leave their homes, they should make sure their car has a stock of emergency supplies and they are bundled up and warmly dressed.
He says this will be some of the worst winter weather the state has seen in years.
Temperatures will be lower today than they were yesterday and are not expected to stop dropping until thermometers have reached 12-below overnight.
It’s a Siberian Express hitting full speed on its trip south through America’s heartland.
Expect slick roads, bitterly cold temperatures, and their could be white outs and drifting in those areas where lake effect is falling.
