BERRIEN COUNTY (WKZO) — New information is out about a bizarre accidental shooting that killed a church administrator in the lakeshore community of St. Joseph on New Year’s Day.
St. Joseph Public Safety Director Mark Clapp says Christina Bond shot herself in the eye while adjusting her bra holster at her home in the 300 block of Upton Drive.
According to Clapp, the 55-year-old was looking down when she accidentally fired the weapon. Bond was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo from Lakeland Hospital. She was pronounced dead on January 2.
The full autopsy report is still pending.
She spent two years in the U.S. Navy according to her obituary last month, and frequently ministered to inmates at the Berrien County Jail.
