KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Just like the statewide average, the unemployment rate in Kalamazoo County stayed steady for February 2023.
The 4.1 percent rate for the county is the same as this past January, and up slightly from the February 2022 rate of 4.0 percent.
The jobless rate in neighboring counties was mostly steady last month, with Calhoun County at 5.2 percent, Van Buren County at 6.5 percent, and Allegan County at 4.4 percent. Cass County’s rate dropped from 5.7 percent in January to 5.4 percent in February, while the rate in St. Joseph County jumped from 5.9 percent in January to 6.5 percent in February. That’s dramatically higher than the 3.8 percent rate in February 2022 for St. Joseph County.
Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged for the third consecutive month in February at 4.3 percent, according to data released earlier this month by the Department of Technology, Management and Budget.
