CHICAGO (WKZO) — Gas prices around Michigan shot up to around two-50 a gallon late this week and GasBuddy.com analyst Patrick DeHaan is predicting we may see price hikes weekly until May.
He says they may go up, but never as high as they got last year.
Even at $2.50 a gallon, we are more than a dollar below last year’s price at this time.
Dehaan says it’s not just summer blends and increased demand that has hit the gas supply and hiked prices in Michigan.
Dehaan says the cold has caused problems for some northern refineries forcing the Whiting plant to halt operations at one point.
Southern strikes at 12 other refineries have also slowed production, reduced supply and that means higher prices.
