BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Battle Creek Police say they have arrested a 22-year-old man following an attempted shooting on Wednesday night.
Police say they responded to a report of an attempted shooting around 7:00 p.m. in the 200 block of Graves Avenue.
Officers discovered the suspect had allegedly tried to shoot a 26-year-old man during a confrontation between the two.
The alleged victim was not struck by any gunfire and fled to his home.
Police later found the suspect and recovered a Glock 9mm pistol along with 12 shell casings at the scene.
The suspect was the caller who reported the attempted shooting, and he claimed the shooting happened in self-defense.
Police said the suspect and the victim are cousins, and seemed to have an ongoing issue with each other.
The suspect was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail following his arrest.
