MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department and Child Protective Services are investigating injuries that were suffered by a 18-month-old child.
Deputies were sent to the 15000 block of West Michigan Avenue in Marshall Township on Wednesday afternoon at about 4:40 p.m. in reference to a welfare check.
Upon arrival, the caller told deputies that her 18-month-old child had fallen from a standing position and was unconscious.
Deputies found the child unresponsive, and the child was immediately taken to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall for treatment.
Detectives learned at Oaklawn there were additional injuries to the child. The child was then transferred to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for further treatment.
At last report, the child was listed in serious condition and was undergoing medical treatment.
The Sheriff’s Department said Friday morning in a news release that no arrests have been made yet and the incident remains under investigation.
