KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Community Foundation is looking for five volunteers to serve on it’s Environmental Justice Committee, which oversees the foundation’s Love Where You Live Environment Fund grants.
Foundation officials say applicants should have a strong interest in and understanding of how race can determine who is exposed to environmental disasters and/or pollution.
Responsibilities include reviewing grant proposals for alignment with Love Where You Live Environment Fund purpose, making annual funding recommendations for investments from Love Where You Live Environment Fund for the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees to consider, and gathering information to help inform the grantmaking practices and priorities of the Love Where You Live Environment Fund.
The committee meets 2 to 3 times a year.
The deadline to apply is Friday, March 31. Those selected will be notified by the end of April.
Questions about the committee can be directed to Tshepo Mathekga at tmathekga@kalfound.org.
