PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Upgrades at Haverhill Park at 6577 Hampton Street are underway and will include resurfacing of the tennis and basketball courts and rehabilitation of the water tower, with the tennis and basketball courts expected to be open for use in mid-June.
The project to rehabilitate the water tower will include the removal of the existing exterior lead-based paint, repair of deteriorated areas, replacement of the cellular antenna mounting ring, and repainting of the exterior. Work on the water tower is expected to be complete in early June.
The trails in and around Haverhill Park will remain accessible, however, the area under the tower and around the courts will be marked off and should be avoided by park patrons.
