KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Housing Resources, Inc., or HRI, will hold its 5K Walk to End Homelessness, on March 18 at 10:00 am starting at Homer Stryker Field, 251 Mills Street.
The annual fundraiser is a family-friendly activity, and Michelle Davis, executive director of MRI, said in a release that “we continue to face an unprecedented housing crisis in our community and nationwide. Many of our low-income and vulnerable residents are facing inflated rental rates, eviction or homelessness”.
There is no fee to enter. For more information on the walk, go to: www.housingresourcesinc.org.
Funds raised through this walk and event sponsorships will help HRI reach their $110,000 goal.
In 2022, with the help of pandemic related funding HRI helped over 2,400 households solve their housing crisis when they were homeless or nearly homeless. HRI provided $8.1 million dollars in financial assistance for back rent, security deposits, rental subsidies, utility payments and other housing needs for Kalamazoo residents.
