THE MOON (WKZO) – You’ve heard of a “Bad Moon Rising” this morning’s lunar eclipse was a “bad moon setting” and the shortest of the century.
It lasted just five minutes and happened after the moon slipped below our horizon. We did get to see some of partial eclipse as the Moon set in the West.
It’s unfortunate we didn’t get to see more because it was a “blood moon,” in which the lunar surface appeared to turn red or orange from the a small amount of sunlight that reflects off the Earth’s atmosphere. This morning’s event is part of a quartet of total lunar eclipses happening within two year period with no partial eclipses between them. The next one is in September and it should be right over our heads in the evening if it’s a clear night.
