KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A second person has been arraigned on Open Murder charges in the death of a Kalamazoo Township man last June.
Andrew John McCormack was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Kathleen P. Hemingway Tuesday, who denied bond as for McCormack. He is charged with Open Murder, Second Degree Arson, and tampering with evidence in the death of 53-year-old James Travis June 18, 2022.
Just after 8:00 p.m. that evening the Township of Kalamazoo Fire Department responded to the report of a house fire in the 1500 block of Shakespeare Avenue in Kalamazoo Township. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and discovered Travis dead inside the home.
An autopsy performed by the Kalamazoo County Medical Examiners Office ruled Travis’ death a homicide.
Shawna Fay Kroeger was also arraigned January 26 for Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Second Degree Arson, and tampering with evidence. Bond has been denied for both.
