KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Kalamazoo City and County detectives are working together to find evidence of a link between a pair of shootings, but they won’t find it in the shells they have recovered from lawns or the slugs they pull out of walls.
This evidence is only in the hearts and minds of the people who pulled the trigger and they aren’t talking.
Separate homes at 300 Phelps at about 10 p.m. in the city and five hours later in the 2900 block of Crystal Lane in Oshtemo Township were both shot up by someone who emptied a handgun into the occupied homes, narrowly missing the adults and children inside.
Undersheriff Pauli Matyas says it would not be unusual if the shooting was retaliation for the other. If it was, none of the victims have come forward to say so. In both cases, about 8 shots were fired, that’s a full clip in many handguns.
