LANSING (WKZO) — As the House Energy Policy Committee begins hearings over reestablishing regulated monopolies for power utilities, Chair Aric Nesbitt of Lawton may not have been prepared for the opposition his legislation would meet as he opened the session.
Electric Choice Now says that a poll, conducted for them by EPIC-MRA, showed 74 percent of 600 Michigan voters oppose eliminating electrical competition.
A number of major corporations and school districts also opposed losing their option to choose a competitive electric supplier.
Kalamazoo Schools Superintendant Michael Rice saying it would cost school districts millions. More hearings are scheduled.
