GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A Florida man is accused of coercing a mid-Michigan teenager into sending him explicit sexual content in what federal prosecutors in west Michigan called a sextortion scheme with other potential victims nationwide.
Twenty-one-year-old Brandon Le of Maitland, Fla., is facing federal charges for allegedly having a 13-year-old Clinton County girl send the sexually explicit material over the Internet. The accused man then allegedly threatened to distribute the sexually explicit material.
Le met the girl on Snapchat and made his first federal court appearance in Grand Rapids yesterday. U.S. Attorney Mark Totten says the man also contacted “a significant number of other people” across the country and did the same thing to them.
