KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The City of Kalamazoo is encouraging residents to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by taking part in the annual Community-Wide Day of Service on Monday, January 16.
City officials say community members can participate in a variety of community service activities such as those at Gryphon Place. Interested volunteers can view opportunities and register online at https://go.gryphon.org.

Volunteers may also register at Mayors’ Riverfront Park the day of the event between 8 and 9 a.m.
Mayor David Anderson will welcome volunteers with light breakfast at Mayors’ Riverfront Park at 8:30 a.m. in the Community Room at the Parks and Recreation building at 251 Mills Street before community service begins.
Starting at 3:45 p.m., community members can meet at Kalamazoo Metro Transit at 530 North Rose Street for a commemorative walk to Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park where a wreath laying ceremony will take place at approximately 4:15 p.m. with several community members speaking on the life, legacy, and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
