PORTAGE (WKZO) — A Kalamazoo woman who embezzled tens of thousands of dollars out of a garage door firm in Portage has been given 2 to 15 years in prison.
Michelle McCarthy had been the bookkeeper for Fawley Overhead Door Incorporated on Lovers Lane for some time.
She was charged with writing dozens of checks to herself that should have never been written.
She pled to two counts of embezzlement in exchange for having other charges dropped.
As part of the deal, the judge has ordered her to pay 120-thousand dollars restitution to her old boss.
