COMSTOCK (WKZO) — Bell’s Brewery is expanding again, just three years after their last major expansion the former microbrewery is going to become a major brewery capable of making a million barrels of beer a year.
The expansion will mean a new bottling facility that will be able to produce 750 bottles a minute.
They have more tanks on order, plan a new keg storage facilty, a 100 square foot warehouse and distribution center and hopes to have the 50-million dollar expansion done by this time next year.
No word on how many jobs it might mean, but there may be a job close by waiting for all those graduates of WMU’s and KVCC’s brewery program.
Currently the company is capable of making 300-thousand barrels a year.
It would make Bells one of the largest Craft Brewers in the country, and among the largest brewers, with a capacity of about 100-thousand more than Founders in Grand Rapids.
Bells was already the 8th largest craft brewer and 12th largest beer manufacturer at their current capacity.
It will still be small compared to Miller, Annheiser Busch and the other major mass marketers.
