CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two vehicle crashes took place in Cass County on Tuesday, December 27 within a couple hours of each other.
The first crash happened a few minutes past 4 p.m. at the intersection of Robbins Lake Road and Teasdale Lake Street in Porter Township, when a 44-year-old Jones resident was traveling north on Robbins Lake Road and disregarded the stop sign at the intersection, crashing into a 19-year-old resident of Constantine who was traveling east on Teasdale Lake Road.
The driver who disregarded the stop sign was taken to Three Rivers Hospital for injuries.
The second crash occurred around 6 p.m. on M-51 near Elm Street in Silver Creek Township when a 46-year-old Dowagiac resident was stopped in the roadway with her turn signal on, attempting to turn into a driveway, when she was struck from behind by a southbound driver, also of Dowagiac.
The driver attempting to make the turn was transported by PrideCare Ambulance to Ascension Borgess Lee Hospital for her injuries.
Authorities say seatbelts were worn in both crashes and that alcohol and drugs were not involved.
