CHICAGO (WKZO)- The Detroit Tigers let one slip away Wednesday night against the Chicago White Sox, but that did not happen Thursday as the Tigers had a strong pitching performance from Kyle Lobstein leading them to a 4-1 victory.
Lobstein (3-2) pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up no earned runs on five hits while walking two and striking out three.
Tigers closer Joakim Soria came in to recored the final four outs and sturck out all four batters to pick up his 11th save of the season.
The Tigers scoring started in the first inning when Miguel Cabrera scored from third base on a wild pitch by Jose Quintana.
After the White Sox tied the game in the fourth inning, the Tigers regained the lead for good in the fifth inning when Rajai Davis scored on a groundout off the bat of Cabrera to make it 2-1.
The Tigers added two insurance runs in the eighth inning when Victor Martinez drove home Ian Kinsler and Nick Castellanos brought in Cabrera with a base hit making the score 4-1 Tigers.
Victor Martinez finished the day 3-4 with one RBI.
The Tigers welcome to town the AL Central leading Kansas City Royals beginning on Friday. David Price (3-1 2.93 ERA) will take the mound for the Tigers while the Royals will counter with Yordano Ventura (2-2 4.94 ERA). Broadcast time is at 6:40 pm on 590 WKZO.
