BANGOR, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — One person is dead and another four were taken to the hospital for injuries following a house fire in Bangor on Tuesday, December 12.
According to South Haven Area Emergency Services, the fire started around 8:25 a.m. at the home on 3rd Street.
Authorities say that six people were inside the home at the time and that one person was rescued by police officers on scene.
The Bangor Community Fire Department was assisted by numerous agencies to include Columbia, Covert, Hartford, Lawrence, South Haven and Watervliet fired departments.
Officials say it was the third major structure fire in the Bangor jurisdiction since Saturday, and that the two-story home had no active, working smoke alarms at the time.
Both a state fire marshal and a medical examiner are investigating.
