Man killed dies after crashing into tree while passing another vehicle near Galesburg

GALESBURG, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 61-year-old man is dead after crashing his vehicle into a tree near Galesburg Sunday afternoon.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 9900 block of East ML Avenue near South 35th Street in Comstock Township. A westbound SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed and tried to pass a slower vehicle.

After the driver passed the other vehicle, he lost control. Deputies say he went off the road and hit the tree.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was in the vehicle.
