KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Is the American Justice system working? Depends on who you ask, but after Ferguson and now Baltimore, its clearly not working for some, and making it function for everyone in Kalamazoo will be the goal of the Lewis Walker Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnic Relations at WMU.
They have just completed a series of community forums, hearing from a number of experts.
Tuesday night they met to try and translate that information into positive action.
Director Tim Ready says it’s really a tale of two communities in one urban setting with one population leading healthy normal lives and another mired in poverty and locked in a cycle of crime.
They have to bring them together.
He says the institute will issue a plan of action by the end of summer.
