WHITE CLOUD (WKZO)– Detectives in White Cloud have formally charged Matthew Bradley with one count of concealing his baby daughter’s death, to keep him in custody while they investigate how 4-month-old Natallya Rich actually died.
He apparently confessed that he took a nap with the baby, and she was dead when he woke up, suggesting it was an accident.
An autopsy is planned and detectives will compare what Bradley has told them with what the doctors say about the baby’s death and decide how to proceed with charges.
His wife, Brittany told reporters that Bradley lied to her for days about the condition of their child. She first learned of her baby’s death from the police on Tuesday.
The child was left in Matthew Bradley’s care when she became sick this past weekend and was unable to care for the child.
He first claimed the baby was being cared for by his sister and then a baby sitter.
Court documents suggest the baby was already dead, strapped into a car seat and hidden in a crawl space in the home.
Bradley has been ordered held on 150-thousand dollars bond, because he has missed court dates, is a habitual offender and because of the charges he faces.
