EAST LANSING, MI — We’ll soon know who is paying the majority of the 95-million-dollar contract MSU head football coach Mel Tucker signed last year. Michigan State University now has ten days to release information on agreements between MSU and two large donors to the Detroit Free Press.
A Court of Claims judge ruled this week the records are public and must be released to the press. Mat Ishbia and Steve St. Andre gave large donations to help pay for Tucker’s contract but it has never been disclosed how much the two MSU alums are contributing.
MSU says making those records public would violate the privacy of the donors. The court’s action means now the public university will have to share details.
