CALHOUN COUNTY (WKZO) — An estate sale in Emmett Township on Friday got off to a late start when one of the items up for sale turned out to contain a surplus hand grenade.
t’s not clear if the grenade was still charged.
Roxanne Scott was preparing items for the sale at 29-maxwell when she opened the drawer on a chest in the garage and she discovered the device.
The items belonged to her father, who was an army veteran, who died last fall.
The bomb squad was dispatched and they removed the grenade.
It was transported in a special trailer to Fort Custer where it was attached to an explosive and destroyed.
