DETROIT (WKZO) — MDOT inspectors will be taking a close look at the I-75 overpass at I-375 near Detroit after a semi-tanker carrying 9000 gallons of unleaded gasoline dumped its load on the overpass and it ignited in a fireball that could be seen for miles.
The driver, who was not injured, says a mechanical problem led to the tires on the trailer locking up, overturning the tanker.
A determination will have to be made to see if any permanent and unrepairable damage has been done to the overpass before repairs can commence and the bridge reopened.
