DETROIT (WKZO)- The Detroit Tigers have changed up their lineup order, but they still are not winning as they lost their sixth straight game, and 9 of the last 11, this time falling to the Oakland Athletics 6-1.
Tigers starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez (3-7) takes the loss as he pitched seven innings giving up four runs on five hits while walking four and striking out one.
The Athletics scored three runs in the second innning and added a run each in the third, eighth, and ninth innings.
The Tigers scored their lone run in the ninth inning when Miguel Cabrera hit a double to center field bringing home Jose Iglesias.
Athletics starting pitcher Sonny Grey (7-2) dominated the Tigers giving up only two hits while walking one and striking out seven.
During the Tigers six game losing streak they have been outscored 37-14.
The Tigers hope to break out of their slump Thursday afternoon in the series finale against the Athletics. The Tigers will send Shane Greene (4-4 5.19 ERA) to the mound. The Athletics will counter with Jesse Hahn (2-5 3.77 ERA). Broadcast time is at 12:40 on AM 590 WKZO.
