KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety police have arrested four suspects over the weekend during a burglary investigation.
It happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday, November 19 as officers responded to reports of a breaking and entering at a business in the 2100 block of South Burdick Street.
With the help of a K-9 track, officers were led directly to a residence near the business where they witnessed several occupants attempting to hide and turn off lights when tried to make contact.
Officers then secured the home from the exterior, applied for a search warrant, and gave about three hours of loudspeaker announcements for those inside to exit the home, with none of the occupants complying to the demand.
With a search warrant in hand, officers entered the home where they identified and apprehended or arrested four of the suspects, with one of them being found hiding in the attic.
Evidence related to the incident was also recovered to include clothing worn by the suspects, tools used to gain entry into the business along with property stolen.
Authorities say two were arrested and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail and are now awaiting arraignment on charges of breaking and entering.
The two juveniles were apprehended and turned over to their guardians.
Charges will be submitted to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
