KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — A sharp-eyed Public Safety Officer who spotted a stolen car with a stolen license plate has resulted in another gun being taken off the streets of the Edison Neighborhood in Kalamazoo, and a quantity of illegal drugs as well.
The driver complied with a traffic stop on Fulford near Clinton Saturday afternoon.
A computer check of the registration indicated the vehicle had been stolen in Portage.
A search of the vehicle turned up a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun, methamphetamine and components to make more meth.
The 23-year-old driver was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and a variety of drug and gun felonies. A 37-year-old Kalamazoo man in the back seat was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
