MARSHALL (WKZO) — The EPA has reached a settlement with Enbridge Oil, which has already spent $1.21-billion to clean up Talmadge Creek and the Kalamazoo River after the 2010 oil spill.
The four million will be spent improving the flow, eliminating invasive species, restoring an oak savanna at the Fort Custer Recreation area and wild rice beds in wetlands along the river.
Some of the money will also be spent tracking and protecting turtle reproduction.
The additional work will complement the improvements and restoration work that has been paid for by a $75-million settlement with the State of Michigan.
