KALAMAZOO (WKZO)– Kalamazoo City Commissioners have agreed to spend $130-thousand to buy a church property adjacent to the Bank Street Farmers Market, allowing them to expand the operation.
Some questioned the wisdom of spending that much money when the city is struggling, but Manager Jim Ritsema says it’s an opportunity to invest in a city success story, and make it better.
The Property consists of a building that was once a bowling alley and a pole barn.
The city isn’t sure what it will do with them yet, but many citizens who spoke at last night’s meeting said the Bank Street market needs more parking.
