LANSING (WKZO) — New legislation has been proposed that would allow any Michigander who wanted to vote early to cast an absentee ballot, without giving a reason.
Right now a voter either has to explain that they will be out of town or in jail and unable to make it to their regular polling place to fill out an absentee ballot.
Seniors over 60 are also given a waiver. 27 other states and the District of Columbia already offer No-reason absentees.
It’s being sponsored by the Secretary of state and State Rep. Lisa Lyons.
