KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Three State House incumbents from Kalamazoo County appear to have been returned to office by comfortable margins. Republican Representative Matt Hall and Democrats Julie Rogers and Christine Morse won by wide margins in the unofficial count, despite redrawn districts.
Rogers, who won by a 3 to 1 margin in the voting yesterday says she really thanks the voter for their support, and that she really didn’t know what to expect this time around.
She says there is a lot of work to do when she gets back to Lansing.
She says she is anxious to see which party will wind up in control of the house, but regardless will continue to fight for her district, which has grown a little after redictricting.
It appears State Senator Seann McCann of Kalamazoo has won another four year term, defeating Republican Challenger Tamara Mitchell.
McCann says the Republicans slung a lot of mud their way, especially in the last two weeks, but he thinks voters were too smart to fall for it, especially in the Governor’s race.
He is hoping that Democrats might actually reclaim control of the State Senate from the GOP, which is still playing out as some races remain undecided.
