BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) — Scott Locey, the former Director of Veterans Affairs for Calhoun County as entered guilty pleas to three high court misdemeanors in a plea deal with prosecutors.
He was charged with shaking down veterans and their widows for payoffs, kickbacks and “gifts” in exchange for helping them get access to V.A. services that were available to them for free.
In fact it was his job to help them gain access.
News organizations found dozens of e-mails that implicated Locey just days after he denied the allegations.
He will be sentenced for the three misdemeanors on July 27th. He will be given probation and ordered to undergo drug treatment, and he may be able to avoid jail if he successfully completes both.
Three other misdemeanor counts were dropped as part of the deal for his plea.
