LANSING (WKZO) Two new state-record fish have been caught in West Michigan, but they couldn’t be more different.
The Department of Natural Resources says bowfisherman Sage Colgrove of Muskegon shot a record black buffalo on April 12 in the Grand River in Ottawa County, with a bow and arrow.
The fish weighed 44.54 pounds and measured 38-1/2 inches long.
Cindy Lou Cordo of North Muskegon hooked the largest white perch ever caught in the state on Bear Lake in Muskegon County on April 18. That fish was two pounds and 13-point-57 inches long.
When a 45-pound black buffalo and a 2-pound white perch both set records, it gives you some idea of the variety of fish available in Michigan.
