PAVILION TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There were no injuries, but a suspect is still at large after a police chase through several townships and the City of Kalamazoo late Monday.
Around 10:00 p.m., Kalamazoo County Sheriff Deputies located a wanted felon in Pavilion Estates Trailer Park. The suspect, a 22 year old male, was
spotted driving his black Dodge Durango. A traffic stop was attempted in the trailer park before the suspect fled in his vehicle.
The suspect led Deputies on a pursuit that went 44 miles through Pavilion Township, Comstock Township, Richland Township, Kalamazoo Township, the City of
Kalamazoo, Oshtemo Township, and back into the City of Kalamazoo. Area agencies assisted in traffic control at major intersections to prevent danger to
the public.
The suspect vehicle hit stop sticks which were deployed by KDPS officers. The suspect vehicle became disabled, and finally came to a stop in the
700 block of Dwight Ave. The suspect fled on foot from the vehicle. A K9 track was attempted along with utilizing a drone flown by KDPS, however the suspect
was not able to be located and is still wanted at this time.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Kalamazoo Township Police Department, and Western Michigan University Police Department.
The suspect is wanted for felon in possession of a firearm, assaulting an officer, and Fleeing and Eluding. The suspect also has a warrant for Domestic Assault.
