NEW YORK (WKZO)– Alex Rodriguez collected his 3,000th career hit in the Yankees’ 7-2 win over the Tigers in New York.
A-Rod slugged a solo homer in the first to join the 3,000-hit club. Brett Gardner hit a two-run homer as part of a 4-for-5 night for the Yanks, who have won three in-a-row.
Adam Warren struck out seven over eight innings of two-run ball to improve to 5-and-4. Bryan Holaday knocked in both runs for Detroit, which has lost three straight.
Justin Verlander allowed six runs and 10 hits in six-and-two-thirds to suffer the loss.
