BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek Fire Department is reporting no injuries from an early morning structure fire that happened on Sunday, November 6.
The fire department responded to 99 Illinois Street around 3:49 a.m. and found that the fire had started on the outside of the home and had extended into the first and second-floor walls.
Car 3 arrived and assumed command with Rescue 3 and Engine 2 performing fire attack. Truck 1 and Squad 2 searched for any occupants. Engine 5, Rescue 6, and Squad 6 performed support functions.
Due to the quick actions of fire crews, the damage was minimized and all occupants were able to exit safely.
The fire that caused more than $40,000 in damage, was quickly put out.
The cause is under investigation by the fire marshal.
