KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – In Kalamazoo County, more than 500 children are waiting for their permanent, loving home to call their own each year. Eleven of those children saw their dream come true Thursday.
The Kalamazoo County 9th Circuit Court celebrated its 20th Annual Adoption Day alongside judges, court staff, and social workers at the Gull Road Justice Complex.
The eleven children were officially welcomed into eight new families.
About 14,000 children are in foster care in Michigan.
Each year the State of Michigan celebrates National Adoption Day in November, with more than 100 adoptions are finalized, uniting children with their new families.
About 3,000 Michigan foster children are available for adoption at any given time.
